The project “Cyclo-Net – Extension of cross-border cyclotourism networks through development of capillary bicycle paths in Križevci and Zalakaros”, was approved for co-financing by the European Union at the first call for proposals within the Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia Co-operation Programme 2014-2020.
The Lead Beneficiary of the project is the Town of Križevci, which is implementing the project in co-operation with the Hungarian partner Town of Zalakaros during a period of 20 months, starting from 1st November 2017 till 30th June 2019.
The total value of the project is 1.593.127,95 EUR, out of which the European Union co-finances 85%, what is 1.354.158,75 EUR. The budget of the Town of Križevci in the project amounts 800.840,00 EUR and the remaining 792.287,95 EUR is the budget of the activities of the Town of Zalakaros.
Main project objective is the development of cycling infrastructure in Križevci and Zalakaros area as a precondition for generating local economic growth based on exploiting rich and diverse natural and cultural heritage of the area in sustainable and unobtrusive manner.
The project encompasses a series of activities that include the construction of bicycle infrastructure and related facilities, strategic planning of the development and promotion of cyclotourism and recreational tourism in Križevci and Zalakaros area, as well as investments in the quality and variety of programmes, attracting visitors and organizing events.
